From 22nd to 24th August 2008 Valencia host the global competition, which more than 500 million spectators across the world will be glued to their television screens to watch. The Formula 1 European Gran Prix will be held at Valencia Street Circuit for the first time.

This exhibition comprises 187 different army ships, mainly from Spain, the United States, Japan, the USSR, Great Britain and Germany. From the Southern Confederate States’ ironclad ram VIRGINIA (1862) to Spain’s modern light aircraft carriers PRINCIPE DE ASTURIAS (1988).

Exhibition: “Las máquinas de Leonardo” (Leonardo’s Machines)
“Las máquinas de Leonardo” is a selection of twelve gadgets created by the Italian genius and reproduced to scale using wood. The machines were chosen based on four mechanical criteria, which gave rise to the titles visible in the display: “Con un solo punto de apoyo” (With a Single Support Point), “Palancas enrollando el plano” (Levers Rolling up the Plane) and “El aire y el agua” (Air and Water).

This monographic exhibition dedicated to José Benlliure Gil (1855-1937) had two very important aims. Firstly, to pay tribute to him with an exhibit based on his work only, considering him away from the dominating shadow of his fascinating brother Mariano, and secondly, to shatter the stereotype of the artist as a painter of Valencian customs only.
