Las Fallas (16th – 19th of March)

It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most popular festival in the Valencian Community. The festival revolves around the well-known fallero monuments, or fallas which are creations made with painstaking love, art, irony and humour that are burned on the last night.

Weeks before the fallas days, the Valencians are already out on the streets, creating bit by bit what will be the unmistakable fallas atmosphere: streets full of firecrackers, bangers, band music, artistic illuminations, street art, horse riding etc. The fallas is not only Valencia’s favourite festival, but also that of thousands of visitors who turn up each year to be wowed by the spectacular beauty of the Valencian streets full of light and colour.

July Fair (July)

This fair was first held on the 21st of July, 1871 with an eye-catching horse display, pavilions, plant exhibitions and sale of products in general.
Year after year, the celebrations carried on getter bigger. In 1891, the Battle of Flowers was established. This takes place on the last Sunday when a bloodless battle breaks out between the young ladies in charge of the flower carts and the general public. Over the course of an hour, hundreds of thousands of flowers fly through the air, leaving a very beautiful and impressive multicoloured carpet of flowers.

During the first couple of weeks, the International Music Band Competition, instituted in 1886, is held. The Palace of Music and the Bullring are the stages for such an unusual and prestigious competition. In the second couple of weeks, the Bullring hosts what was originally called the San Jaime Fair, with top class bullfighters who satisfy the Valencian enthusiasm for the tradition.
The Viveros festival offers an ample range of artistic acts, from classic ballets to rock groups and theatre, folk music, gypsy dancing, operetta… The catherine-wheel castles, set off with the best fireworks, are not to be missed.

Valencia Film Festival (Mostra de Valencia). Mediterranean Cinema (October)
Since 1960 the “Mostra de Valencia” (Valencia Display) of Mediterranean Cinema has been held in the Valencian capital. It is organised by the Municipal Cinema Foundation of Audiovisual and Multimedia Arts. This competition is already a point of reference in the Mediterranean area. Its objective is to promote a better understanding between peoples and cultures, emphasising historical roots through high quality cinematographic creations for a better critical knowledge of cinematographic art of each group of people. As well as film showings, the festival program is completed with a series of parallel activities.

This circuit is being celebrated 7 years ago when was constructed as a closed circuit which allowed to follow the whole show from their seats. The excellent installations and  its number of international visitors every year has become this circuit in one of the most relevant and recognized prixes in the world. Motorbike lovers can not miss it.
