Procession for Nuestra Señora de la Victoria

Held on 8th September, featuring a procession through the Centro Histórico Artístico. The Pontifical Mass is held at 11 a.m. in the Santa Iglesia Catedral Basilica, while the “Solemne Procesión” leaves from the Basilica at 7:30 p.m. and heads towards the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Victoria.

“Ajo Blanco” (White Garlic Festival)

Every year on the first Saturday in September there is a date that should not be missed in a town located in the region of La Axarquía called Almáchar. The celebration is called the “Ajoblanco”, and is intended to promote garlic, a typically Spanish food, as well as other traditional regional specialities such as Moscatel grapes, raisins and wine.

Virgen de los Remedios

On 8th September the city celebrates the day of La Virgen de los Remedios, who is the city’s patron saint and its “Perpetual Mayoress”. The townspeople form a procession showcasing some of the pieces of jewellery that comprise an extensive and beautiful collection.

Santo Cristo Fair

On the 12th, 13th, and 14th September, Casares holds the Santo Cristo Fair, one of the town’s smallest. The fair traditionally coincides with the end of the summer harvest and has always been very well-attended by the townspeople, since after the harvest they have finished with their labours.

“Feria del Ganado” (Cattle Fair)

Cártama pays a tribute to ancestral customs and traditions with the “Feria del Ganado”, held on 20th and 21st September in La Ampliación de Cártama, as part of the September Festival. The Councilwoman of Agriculture, Isabel Sánchez, has announced that the cattle reception will begin on Sunday the 19th.

Exhibition: “Visión de España”

Malaga hosts an exhibition of 14 pieces by Joaquín Sorolla, created for the Hispanic Society and designed to capture the artist’s vision of Spain in his time. The 14 murals are jointly called “Visiones de España” and the canvases have a total length of 60 metres and a height of 3 metres.

A selection of works from one of Europe’s most influential contemporary art museums: the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava. The exhibition showcases works by Peter Pollag, Milan Lukác, Dorota Sádovska, Eric Schiller, Josef Jankovic, Vladimir Kompánek, Tibor Bártfay, Vladimir Popovic, Svetozár Ilavsky, Marek Ormandík and Eric Blinder.
