ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES: Parks & Gardens Tamadaba Park
The network of ravines, escarpments and massifs in this zone make up an erosive landscape of contrasts and great beauty, where it is possible to identify elements of notable geomorphologic interest. In Tamadaba one of the island’s best conserved original pine forests is found. It is a very efficient water collector, proven by the presence of several artificial dams in the area. Other well conserved ecosystems are the ravines and the Tabaibal-Cardonal formations of the low areas, as well as the escarpment habitats. Several threatened species are found on the Guayedra cliffs, some of which are endemic. Furthermore, various species of endemic and threatened birds are found in the pine forests which are perfect areas for their nesting. From a cultural point of view, there are also some isolated and semi-abandoned country houses, as well as the important archaeological zones such as El Risco and the Guayedra Valley. Pilancones Park Due to its characteristics, this space plays an important role in soil protection and the refilling of the aquifers and is made up of several ravines of great geomorphologic interest and scenic beauty. The pine forests on its peaks are a well preserved habitat with a fine birdlife and have been included by the EU in its network of zones of special protection of birds. The park also features Tabaibal-Cardonal formations and several aquatic habitats. Threatened species of fauna and flora and elements of scientific interest are distributed though the space.
