EXPLORE FUERTEVENTURA
In Fuerteventura, not only will you find white sand beaches and crystal clear water, but you can also enjoy a wide selection of cultural activities. Visit the island’s many museums, take in its religious architecture, shop for local handicrafts or join in on its popular festivals where you will get the chance to discover traditional music and dance.
The island is divided into six townships: Antigua, Betancuria, La Oliva, Pájara, Puerto del Rosario and Tuineje. The capital is Puerto del Rosario (formerly known as Puerto de Cabras).
The islet of Lobos, measuring 5 square kilometres, belongs to the township of La Oliva. This small, unspoiled islet is almost uninhabited; its inhabitants amount to little more than a few fishermen. It represents an experience rare in islands which see as many tourists as the Canaries do. Only a few kilometres away lies the ultimate in modern hotel complexes, yet Lobos offers its visitors absolute peace and solitude (at least at the time these pages were written.)
