EXPLORE COSTA DORADA The Golden Coast, or Costa Daurada in Catalan, is the name designated to the coastal and inland territory between the Ebro River and the northern limit of the province of Tarragona, in the southern part of the autonomous community (made up of several provinces) of Catalonia. Considered an ideal destination for tourists looking for a combination of sun and beaches, the Costa Daurada is divided into ten regions, five inland: l' Alt Camp, Conca de Barberà, Priorat, Ribera d'Ebre and Terra Alta, and five which border the sea: Baix Camp, Baix Ebre, Baix Penedès, Montsià and Tarragonès. Each region is administered by the Consells Comarcals.
As the first class tourist destination that it is, the Costa Daurada offers visitors plenty to do. Its attraction include golf centres, marinas, wilderness areas and an enormous entertainment complex known as PortAventura, consisting of the Fun Park PortAventura and the Water Park Costa Caribe. Apart from its considerable amusement-based attractions, the Costa Daurada has much more to offer. Visitors can choose from a wide range of cultural activities: museums, theatres, craft centres and, possibly its most remarkable attraction, the Roman ruins right in the city of Tarragona, which has itself been declared a World Heritage Site.
