This museum is essentially devoted to conserve and maintain alive the Barcelona city culture. The display of objects transports visitors to all of the Catalan capital’s historical periods with superb exhibitions of its customs, fashion, design and furniture. Address: Plaza del Rei 1.

Picasso Museum The museum displays and reveals the fundamental work of genius Pablo Picasso, one of the maximum exponents of cubism. With his more than 3,600 works, the museum shows us Picasso’s relation with his beloved Barcelona, as well as his adolescent process right through to his maturity until arriving at his death. Thanks to Picasso’s personal friend Jaume Sabartés it has been possible to gather together an exhaustive amount of his work for show at the museum. Address: Montcada st, 15

Museum in which the wax creations are impressively convincing for their realism and perfect execution. Passing through its wings visitors will find replicas of figures from the cinematographic, political and religious world. The unmistakable figures of Lady Di, Yasser Arafat, and Teresa of Calcuta are just a few of the fascinating historical figures from previous historical periods that are on permanent display here. This Museum is the former home of architectural genius Antoni Gaudí while he was constructing his work of art in Güell Park. It is possible here to see and experience the life the famous architect, as well as to have access to his peculiar personal objects and collections. Through Collections and the exhibition/fair programmes and activities, MACBA aspires to construct a critical memory of the art of the second half of the 20th century, and in this way accomplishing two objectives simultaneously: on the one hand, to resist speeches and hegemonic forces that set out to mythify the local-national and instrumentalise the cultural institutions as active agents of the economic outsourcing of the cities; and on the other hand, to propose alternatives to the insufficiencies of the museum’s dominant models, that are based, in general, on the universalistic myth of the original work or in a conception of the museum as a spectacle. Cosmo Caixa Barcelona has an enormous variety of content and an innovative layout, turning it into one of the most modern museums of its kind. The exhibitions are distributed throughout various rooms, including the Amazon Forest, the Geological Wall, Planetarium, etc. Visitors are invited to interact with many of the scientific experiments, making the whole experience richer and more entertaining, particularly for children. Barcelona Football Club Museum In light of the club's history and the ever-growing interest in it, Joan Gamper suggested the creation of a Barça museum as early as the 1920's. However, the idea didn't come to fruition until 1984 when the FC Barcelona Museum was inaugurated. In doing this the Barça club became the first club in the world to collect and exhibit its past. Furthermore, the exhibits were not limited to the football team but also included the other club teams: handball, basketball and hockey. Address: Arístides Maillol avenue

The Foundation opened its doors in 1975 (it was first created in 1971) through the initiative of brilliant painter Joan Miró, who with this initiative dedicated to his native city a space for the expression of the most modern tendencies in contemporary art. The Foundation together with Centre d'Estudis d'Art Contemporani, organizes exhibitions showcasing the great artists of the XX century. In addition to the permanent Miró collection, the centre temporarily exhibits the works of famous contemporary artists like Warhol, Giacometti or Magritte.
